I went to work for a mega-carrier with about 20 yrs in but I knew what I was getting into. I was curious as to whether all of the bad stories were true and they were!

I mean almost word for word, unbelievable - ah yes, and just waiting for someone to write up the same for Trans-Am - they're in the same scam too.

Financially is all I care about. I do this to make money, not see the countryside.
It's not for everyone though. No shame in that.Rhinestone Eyes Thanks this. -
Lease purchase is the new way companies are now getting paid. Especially with teams. Most leases are designed for teams. Companies will, more often than not, use the bait and switch tactic. Get you in, then coerce you into a lease and run team. For some companies, this is standard procedure. Big Mega companies are too clever to put anything in a contract that would scare a driver off, so invariably what would make one fail in a lease is probably not even in the contract. Low miles, consistent heavy freight, low rate etc... It is all perfectly legal to exploit drivers who are gullible, and have difficulty navigating their way through the trucking industry. Big companies know that there is a sucker born every minute. And will take full advantage of naive unsuspecting drivers with gleaming eyes and visions of shining red trucks going down the road making big money. Until legislation is passed to prohibit the exploitation of drivers, then companies will continue to circumvent any existing laws out there to enrich themselves. Just remember: if there is so much money to be made in trucking , why are the companies in such a hurry to lease you theirs.

Yep, I know USX does not run their teams like they used to in the days of paper logs and no CSA so you probably have more time to get more then catnaps in between potholes. But trying to sleep in a moving vehicle in all kinds of weather just ain't my cup of tea for any amount of money. I am the captain of my ship. Not the first mate half the time.
Oh and just remember that If your co driver wrecks and you don't have that net around you and you survive. They will not payout if you are injured.
A lady who went through USX orientation when I did was in the bunk when her trainer wrecked and she was thrown against the old box shifter they had in the first generation auto shifts and got shafted for her injury's and canned for negligence because she was not wrapped up in that net.Rhinestone Eyes Thanks this.
