$50 is normal at most places. Some will want to charge you to take them.

I am pretty sure there is a 2/32 requirement on a trailer tire

A few years back I blew a drive tire north of Atlanta. Stopped at a TA and they had a half worn Continental steer with a few chunks missing that came close to matching the tread depth of the others. Think I paid 325.00 installed for it. Man I couldn't wear it out. Lol. Finally replaced all of my drives and that Continental with the chunks missing had barely worn. I think it is the best tire I ever owned. LMAO. Point is don't pay to have it disposed. A half worn quality steer has alot of life in it for someone.

Lots has changed since the 80s. Back then nobody measured tread depth. If there was air in it and no wires hanging out of it anywhere you were on your way. The enforcement for profit program hadn’t gotten into high gear yet. I was just glad he didn’t make me single it out. That was pretty common back then too if you were light enough that the single wasn’t overloaded. Can’t even compare the tires then to now. We had wheel wrenches and jacks on the trucks for a reason. Thank #### the Budd wheels put an end to that.

Casing credit ought to be market dependent. Hard to believe they are not in short supply like everything else these days so wtf is this $30-$50 credit per tire BS especially with inflation? I remember about 12 years ago when I bought my first set of 10 new, at Petro truck stop of all places, gave me $100 per casing credit. Got a great deal on those tires with the $1,000 off!!

I have only had one place give me a good casing credit for 100 per tire and that was because it was 1/2 life and I just did not like the tires at all. That was about 2 years ago.
