Newer driver here, just want an opinion on if this damage in the picture on passenger side steering tire needs it replaced or not... It drives fine for now, wondering if I can safely wait off on it for another 6-8 weeks and get it replaced at next PM service? Or should it be done sooner?
Thanks a lot for the advice, am shutdown for the moment and only drove about 30 miles after noticing it.
P.s. no air leaks, holds air pressure fine.
Steer tire damage, how bad is it?

I don't think it's that bad but it's on the steer axle so I wouldn't gamble on it. If you want to replace it 6-8 weeks from now then you should just replace it now. Why wait?

I Remember Some Steer Tires That Went South Quickly on a '13 FreightShaker Condo (one side only) and The O. O. who thot it was cheaper to replace Tires till His Wrench, Who I Agreed With, Told Stubborn Owner, "Either Replace Steering Linkages or Tow It To Your Yard As It Wasn't Safe To Operate".

This Was A Owner Driver Who Didn't Listen To Me When I Told Him About a BAD TIRE On A 53' D.V. Rental Trailer: Left Front Outside. 3 months later it exploded just past exit 5, East Bound I-10, Louisiana. Loves was at the 5 and a service road (from exit 6 or 7) provided access.Last edited: Jun 11, 2022
