I know the reply is late but that crack or split is usually caused by a rock penetrating the rubber when the rubber is most vulnerable; when its wet. Judging by that style of tire. It's a Michelin xza3 directional steer. Excellent tire both in winter and summer. The best solution to tell if that crack will be a problem is to probe it with a pick... if you feel steel belt plys I'd change it for safety purposes or move it to a trailer tire

I just saw this, and figured out that you had mistyped the word to one denoting a person from China.

Thanks! I have been watching that cut extremely close for the last six months. It has remained the same. It has not changed and the test you recommend was performed and no core is felt to the touch. I also pour water on the tire when temp is real hot to avoid stressing that area.

Another possibility is that you turned your steerwheel while standing still on a stone.
Not saying you personally did that but it is worth menthioning.
    The damage would look similiar.

I am assuming so. Unit had it already when driven out of the dealership. They did a dot and when I looked at it the detail was against the ground. I also maintain a tire pressure of 100 psi on all tires. Replacement is not a descarted and a very strong option actively considered. The lower the groove the closer it gets to it applying more heat .definitely not a good situation.

I start feeling shaking in my truck... i have michelin tires 22.5 and i have 120k on them. I also run centramatica on them. How long these tires last. I changed my leaf springs and new shocks and alignment and still i have vibration or some shaking in my hood. When i roll down my window and look at the tire i can see like going left-right-left when i’m driving straight. I wanted to take the centramatics out and rotate them and balance them without the centramatics. What do you guys think? And i forgot this will be probably sad part bcs i found lil nail on the side of my driver tire so i guess i will have to buy new pair of steer tires. I will post pic of my tires and i think they have still life in them but shaking and this nail i thinm is from them. Any opinion is wecome and thank you!
