Steer tires on a truck different sizes

    Regrooved tires are not recaps. there is a difference and that is where people sometime get confused.

    Recapping vs. Regrooving vs. Retreading
    • Recapping is an old industry term for what is now more commonly called tire retreading.
    • Regrooving is a process that makes use of existing tread depth by adding new grooves to the original rubber. Besides some safety concerns, the regrooving process greatly reduces the likelihood of that tire being eligible for retread in the future.
    • Retreading, also known as recapping, involves buffing away the original tire tread, and applying a new layer of tread.

    I’m referring to regrooving tires, not recaps. You stated yours can be regrooved, which they can, however once that is done they are no longer legal on the steer axle. I didn’t ask if you ran caps or not.

    Ok, got it. Sorry miss read what you said. And I agree. I still can't believe that its legal to run recaps on steers. I personally think is is dangerous
