Can I have two different steer tires brand , like good year and Yokohama ? If almost same thread count. I had two Yokohama tires but driver side just went bad on me , the inside shoulder but passenger is in really good condition.

You can, but different tires model and makes will always have different wear rates. You should match application the best you can, like both tires are rated for highway use. You should not put one highway tire on and the other a regional for example.

rule is that steer tires must be the same size and type. Type meaning Radial or steel belted. As long as they are the same size and both are radial or both are steel belted, then you are good.

In Canada you can NOT have 2 different brands of steer tires. I just found this out, luckily not from the DOT. If you put 2 different brands on you will get alot of wandering, its a real pain in the ###. The guy at an MD alignment shop here said that it was not legal to run different tires...
