I have a 2000 Freightliner Classic. I hit an animal and noticed my left front tire started wearing uneven after a few thousand miles. I noticed that the steering crossover tube has a bend in it. I need someone who has this model truck to tell me if their tube is straight or if they have a bend in them on the drivers side from the factory? If it is supposed to be straight, would it be possible to have it straightened and then realign the front end? The crossover tube is the main steering rod that connects the two tie rod ends to the front tires. Thanks for the help.
Steering crossover tube bent??

Thats the Tie rod tube needs a new one, or a ALI, around it till you get new tie rod, just buy new tie rod ends at same time so everything is new on FT. end.

Just wondering how you knew what the tie rod ends were but didn't know what the tie rod was called
If you can get your toe set proper you might not need to spend $$ on a new tie rod just cuz it's bent. -
If the tube has a kink in it then it needs replacing, if not remove the assembly from the truck and were it is bent bounce it on the front tire, I have done it many times.
Just a thought!areelius Thanks this.
