There is no ICC. They went out of existence in the middle 1990's. The ICC was replaced by the Surface Transportation Board

now my friend there is a big difference in an owner operator and a company driver. to make it simple if your an owner operator your the company and you make your on rules.
now you DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE YOUR OWN MCC, ICC ,DOT AUTHORITY admitedly it is nice and you do if your an independent but you can truck without it .you simply lease the truck to a GOOD company and run off there authority and insurance.
as far as what you need to do it that part is also simple, BUY THE TRUCK assuming you have the credit or the cash and go from there. not as complicated as some would lead you to believe.
the complicated part is finding a good comany to lease to and that is difficult most frankly are not worth a #### so choose carefully.
you will find that when you own your on truck it opens a lot of doors, now bear in mind when you lease to a company there is no out of pocket expense the leasing company pays it all not because there trying to help you they in fact are not they are required to buy all the permits and insurance and so on BUT you have to pay it all back starting with your first settelment BUT it is a good way to get started.
now you wont make a lot of money in perticular if you pull there trailer they charge you for that to in order to make it worth while you have to have your own trailer.
now once you get your own tractor and trailer your revenue will just about double, then its time to go independent and your revenue will increase again.
not a complicated process just a little exoensive .
good luck my friend . SOUTHERNPRIDECapone Thanks this. -

Not having the experiance will be a problem with the insurance companies.. Once you have someone willing to write all your nessissary insurance the rest is easy.. Look into getting insurance before you do anything else.. Get written estimates.. apply for it before you buy a truck then find you cannot drive it..

I think we can all agree that even the existing numbers are much better than a new company job right now. These were really the choices I was faced with and would not change my decision. This week was a setback though too.
Also, please consider the brute honesty of my numbers as well. I really don't think others are figuring EVERY mile in when they throw out ppm figures. PCMiler and RandMcNally is often assumed when talking about $1.50+ a mile, and many of my loads are originally figured that way as well... I just eliminate all the BS from the root numbers to the cold facts. -
First yr insurance will be a killer if not completely impossible to get with no experience.
Reason being there is way too much liability in trucking and they do not want to insure a O/O that in their eyes has no idea what he is doing.
