Memory Lane! I've hauled chips and/or lumber out of all those places. Dinsmore, Alder Point, Elk Creek, Annapolis............. Man, I miss those days.
I'm still threatening to move to Happy Camp when I retire.
My second chip hauling job was Fort Bragg to Samoa for Louisiana Pacific as fast as we could turn them. If it was the middle of the night and you were feeling brave you could forget about Highway 20 and take 1 up to Leggett. I don't think I would be that brave today.
And there's not that much lumber out of Ukiah any more. It's all Mendocino Forest Products, almost all Home Depot loads from the DC in Calpella. They haven't raised their rates in about 8 years and treat truck drivers like excrement. I eventually refused to haul for them with my own truck and my current boss does his best to keep me out of there now.
