What was the original problem to begin with?

It’s a long story. It started with a leaking wheel seal. They repaired it but didn’t center the drum on the hub. This led to me needing new brakes on that wheel as well as a horrible shake in the front end. I had a new hub put on at a Sapp Bro’s, but he did not torque the bearings. I had to go to the International and have them properly set them. It cost me a drum, brake pads, an all new hub assembly, and now, another set of bearings, all from a stupid wheel seal.

I was just wondering if the hub/bearing went bad at first. What a fiasco. Stories like that piss me off and is the reason I hate getting anything fixed on the road. Hopefully it will be right this time.

9 or 10 yrs ago, I had a right front steer wheel seal done at Sapps in Pa. one month later the bearing burned up, destroyed the spindle, they paid the repair bill, $2000. At least they stood behind their mistake. Supposedly they brought in s Vendors training technician, to avoid it happening again.

I plan to trade it in around 700k. I’m wanting to wait until I can get a GHG 2024 compliant truck. The GHG phase 2 regs are coming in 2021, 24, and 27.

This one guy I have is currently in training to pull a flatbed for a carrier. We were discussing option for coming home after training. I figured I’d mess with him a little bit. My truck is a single bunk.

I finally filled up today. I’ve been running North and South several times and was trying not to get much fuel there. Filled in IL today, 4000 miles, 11.75% DH, each load was over 40k, except one that was 36k, 9.17 mpg. Erie, PA, to Kansas City, to Carthage, to St Cloud, to Joplin, home, to NE, to AR, to IL.

I’m pretty confident I won’t hit 20k. That shipper in Springfield last week screwed everything up. Had it not been for that, I know I could have. I’ll probably hit 18500-19000. I’m on a load now that delivers Wednesday and try to get one more short run in. I’m also sitting at 1.74 all miles with 12.2% DH. Just shy of my 1.75 goal.
