So far, no issues. As far as big brokers go I use TQL, CHRobinson, and Coyote. I have 4 Brokers I haul for on a regular basis and use the big guys to position myself to one of my go to brokers. Out of the big 3 I use TQL the most by a long shot. Coyote is really good, it's just hard to get good rates out of them so I've had to say no more than yes. CH Robinson is similar, I say no more often than yes and I haven't been impressed with their agents yet. The CH office in Memphis is good; I've pulled for them twice. TQL has given me good rates on most of what I've done for them.

Be careful with intrastate loads, especially in PA if you don't have your intrastate authority for that state. PA, TX, CA are three to be careful with for sure. There are a couple others to watch out for as well but I can't remember which ones.

Show up in Indy to grab a load to WI and when I check in the guy says no pets. I said,
ok I'll just keep her in the truck.
You can't have her on the property at all
Can I tie her up out there on the tree at the driveway?
No, you have to leave and come back without the dog

This is my load to set me up to go home so I called an Uber, took her to a pet sitting place, getting loaded, and I'll have to get an Uber to get her back. The broker on this didn't mention it. I won't be coming back here again. Ridiculous requirements.

That's nuts. I've had my dog in places that won't let them in but he stayed in the sleeper out of sight. I think I would cancelled the load. I don't like the idea of a stranger driving off with my dog. Lol. Glad you're getting it handled.

I would have cancelled too but it's my load to WI to get my load home. Didn't have a choice this time.

    Misesian,

Thanks for this post, it really gives me an idea of the current market for reefer. How many hours are on your reefer ? I thought about reefer before, but was scared of the potiential claims. Is your cargo insurance 100k or more..

    Thanks..

Wow, that is absolute BS! Care to say which shipper it was? I'll know to avoid them out of principle if anything.

Yep there's always a choice. You don't have to take stupid #### from anyone out here. Deadheading is not a bad thing. Let their freight sit. I don't have a dog but I have in the past and we do have animals and they are part of the family. If I had one in the truck I would never leave my dog tied to a tree while I went in somewhere. I remember my buddy ran into this scenario at the Vance, AL Mercedes plant one night. They told him to tie his dog to the fence if he wanted to go deliver. He told them hell no he wasn't doing it. The production line was about to stop and they relented crying uncle allowing his dog in. And the dog bothered no-one... stupid rule.. he was about to leave with their load. Lol
