Please, tell him then what the market rates are, so he knows better. At least roughly; 2 $/mile; 2.50, 3? I thought, for a moment that 1.83 a mile is not that bad if he manages 4000 miles a week

Hard to say that when you don't know what his loaded to empty percentage is.

Spyder gets confused often. He pulls a skateboard, but thinks he knows the rates for everybody else's equipment too.

I don't own a steel mill but i know what market rates for steel are. Why? Because i know how to read and do so regularly.

DH between loads 10-12% so far. Total rate by the time I get back will be 1.87 on all miles since starting this deal. Average loaded rate is just above 2.00 per mile. Over time I'm sure the rate will go up but right now I have a guy that likes working with me, gets me the rate I need, and the truck isn't sitting.

So far it has all been frozen product. Where I live it's either chicken, cheese, or food service product; mostly frozen finished goods. So far what I have done outside my home market has been frozen goods as well. I am thinking produce will never be a large part of what I do; occasionally at best. Even though this trailer is a little older, it has been doing a good job handling all this frozen stuff I've been hauling.

Has nothing to do with reading. I can read too. If DAT rates say 2/mile, doesn't mean everybody is getting 2. Unless you're actively booking loads for vans, you don't know what's happening out here.

Read what? His rates are on par for the current spot market as a reefer truck. But hey, we must all be reading the wrong stuff :biggrin_2554:

Those are average rates. Don't be average.

Besides which, has dat ever called you and asked what you got on a load? In all the years i used dat i never got one phone call from them about rates. So how do you thunk they get those numbers if not from tuck owners booking loads? I suspect its supplied by large brokerage firms such as chr and tql. Now they wouldn't have any incentive to report lower rates than actual would they?
