Saw this article today about Celadon after reading about their recent payment regarding falsifying accounting records. Some of these trucking companies are so shady. I also read that Falcon, flatbed company, has ceased operations. Another one of those no warning scenarios. Drivers were told to stop work immediately. I don’t understand how these companies can squander such an opportunity and they aren’t caught until they’re closing the doors. It paints a dark picture for the next couple years as things continue to soften. And, I think it will get really bad with so much new truck inventory hitting the market and the large backlog still to come, same with trailers.

For what it's worth, I've seen so many of those extra-low bumper air dams - in pieces! There are just way too many road and lot obstructions to make them feasible.

My company already stopped ordering trucks with the air dam on the first pic. They are really low to the ground and get ripped off almost immediately. Heck I think it would scrape leaving our main terminal.Dave_in_AZ, Misesian and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
These brokers are cutting rates substantially lately. I’m doing some short haul stuff in the Northeast right now. I wanted a long haul out, but it’s just too cheap. Even on this regional stuff, it’s like pulling teeth to get a fair rate out of them. I’m not going to pull something 1000 miles for 1.00-1.15 a mile, the loads coming up here don’t pay enough to take that kind of hit to get out. I’m still finding decent stuff but it takes longer to find it.

What were your usual rates? (if it's not too rude to ask.)

I usually average 2.05-2.15 all miles and it wasn’t difficult to do. Now it’s a little harder to find that. I’ve had a few months averaging 2.50-2.68 all miles. Those were really good ones.
