I did not want to say it , but I will say it anyway. Before you do any lease, or work under someone else's authority, take your time to research. if I was me, I WILL NEVER DO THAT!, period. I rather drive for someone who pays me really good and treat me well or I become 100% independent O/O , that will be my only two alternatives.

20-30K is not plenty of capital. Either way, pursue your dreams and I wish you the best of luck.

My dad used to say “ I can think of a thousand reasons not to do it but I’m going to anyway “

No where near amount you need to be a business that serves another. That is what a real owner operator is. If you need support to serve your customer.., Then you’re a company driver paying expenses.

He’s talking about leasing on to a carrier. It’s not rocket science. The life of a glorified company driver like I am is pretty decent sometimes. Fuel card with deep discounts, money in the bank next week for your work. $20-30k is plenty in the bank for the route they’re wanting to take.

Engine rebuild, predatory tow, etc… being leased on your customer is the carrier.

I get what you’re saying, but other than the occasional horror story, what are the realistic chances of that happening and blowing through $30k before your first check comes in after a week?
