I heared a rumor that Stevens Transport was going to be all lease drivers in the next couple of years wondering if this was true or not. Also heard that Stevens was 7 million dollars in debt to Marten Transport...wondering if this was true?

Why don't call Stevens and ask these questions. We don't need more rumors floating around without validation. The best thing is when you hear something, if it is of interest, talk to the person or comapny it is about, then if it is true, let others know and if it is not, don't say anything more about it.

Then coirm it with the company. Company management will know more than any driver on the road will know. That is how gossip spreads. People want to "confirm" something rather than go to the correct source. When that is done about people, people's reputations can be ruined.

I would not doubt it. The lease is a way for a company to make a driver pay for fuel, truck, maintenance and they don't have to pay health insurance. They make more money off of the driver this way. The lease purchase makes one feel like they are making more money but they actually are making a lot less. MOST will never own the truck they lease.. And if they do get to own it the truck will be in need of a engine rebuild by then ($18,000)

I know that I am not sticking to the subject but I need advice.

Got into this business with my own authority (not a driver) since I was tired of waiting for child support payments to come in (they never arrived). I want to pay out 85% of loads and deduct insurance payments from the o/o weekly settlements and he/she is responsible for their fuel. Am I unreasonable?
