So I have been doing research and talking and reading the last few months, right now i am deciding between Stevens and FFE...this is what i have found out.
* I have my Class A CDL, but haven't driven in 4 years so this is what they both told me.
STEVENS:
- 3 week schooling
- 5 weeks with a trainer
- few days orientation
- 3 weeks with finish trainer
- during training it's 355 per week pay
- they deduct 26 bucks a week for repayment
- if you go through them for schooling, its a 30 - 36 month contract
- Starting pay is .26 cpm
- home time greatly varies
- They use KW's and Pete's
- Mileage varies greatly
FFE:
- 2 weeks training
- 5 weeks out with a trainer
- 455.00 per week while out with a trainer
- No deductions for repayment if you go through their school and stay one year employed with them.
- After training, you start out at .29 cpm as a solo driver
- home time, for all i read were pretty consistent, usually about 3 - 4 weeks out, 2 - 3 days home was the majority of what i read and heard
- They use Freight-liners and Volvo's
- Mileage varies greatly
Now this is just going by word of mouth, reading hundreds of posts, talking with recruiters and this is just a summary of what each has to offer. I was also looking at Central Refrigerated as well, but if anyone has anything to add, feel free....I know there are those who have negative experiences with both these carriers but you will find that in any job in the world, so you have to take it with a grain of salt, but my experience has also taught me, the person makes the job, your attitude and hard work. You bust ###, friendly, patient, fun to be around and talk too, those people tend to make it better then those with a chip on their shoulders or attitude thinking the world owe's them something...
