I have seen a lot on here about Stevens wanting you to run 5 weeks before giving you 7 days off. That is fine with me. My question is what happens if you want to run more? Can you, for example, run 10 weeks and then get 14 days off? I am single so the being on the road is not a problem, but I also have a commitment that requires the 2 weeks each 3 months. Not military so no options there.

No issues with starting and ending in Dallas either, as I would be flying out for the 14 days.

    What do you think?

Here is my understanding of Stevens hometime policy. You get 1 day of for every 7 days you drive. So if you drove for 10 weeks you would only be able to get 10 days home. I think 30 days is the max you can get on hometime. Good luck!:biggrin_2556:

After your 9 week training and your issued a Tractor, will they load you to your home of record so you can pack your truck up with your personal items? I didn't read anything on this site about that.

They try to, but it may take a couple of loads to get you home depending on where you live. Me, After dumb and dumber, now finish trainer, I went home with the first load, but that is due to frieght moving from dallas tx to Wyoming.

I drive for marten now but thinking of porting over to stephens. Marten only allows up to four days off max unless u want to turn in ur truck for hometime not bad unless u have a new truck and get stuck with a POS when u get back so my question is if u stay out for 5 to 10 weeks and take ur hometime for 7 days or so do u loose ur truck or do u get to take it home with you

At stevens as a company driver, 5 days is the max amount of time off without loosing your truck.

And why would you say that wmpclam?

I do know that it depends on how good your driver manager is, if you get home on time with Stevens. Some are better at it than others, and I have seen the games that some of the DMs play claiming that they tried to get their driver home, when in reality, they pushed it off.

I suppose it has to do with two things...

    1. The sheer amount of negative comments and upset ex drivers for stevens as compared to those for marten.

    2. I personally don't want to stay out for a month at a time so I would vote for Marten.

Thanks for answering. The comparison of disgruntled drivers has more to do with Stevens being a front line training company, and martin is not. Martin is more selective about who they will hire than Stevens.

As far as home time, they are very similar, out 4 weeks, get 4 days off, martin caps it at 4, stevens caps it at 5.
