Bari if they are not willing to wait they just want to push another potato into the tube so they can make their style of mashed potatoes out of you when you come out of the tube, I just had a bout with the girls in the office and we will see what comes of it... My Recruiter has backed way off after I told him he didn't remember me from the day before... He was a bit pushed back, Hey if you can't remember who I am or anything about me then either 1 of 2 things is happening here... 1 Either your memory is bad(???) Or 2 you are pressured to put guys in the system(tube) and we will make what we want out of them, I'm not turning my back on them yet but they have me wondering after todays episode on the phone. Take Care Guys. TD.

Their recruiting dept is like a telephone sales company, they talk with hundreds of prospects every day, don't be surprised they forget who you are. 2/3rds of every class don't make it so they have to keep the recruit conveyor belt moving. You are only a number at Stevens, at least for the first year.
twinrose Thanks this. -

I have had luck with mine. She has called me almost everyday. When I moved my start date back to the 26th she didnt like that but has called me three times to ensure I will be there. I am sure they are given some type of incentive to fill the class or is there a "driver shortage" I hear about?

TD - sorry couldnt send an IM since I am still new on this board. I havent posted enough yet. I have the same recruiter you mentioned - how funny is that!
I wanted to do the training here before going to any company but the cost is too high for me right now. I am leaving the corporate world finally after 24+ years of stress and never being as good as your last month and the consistant lay-off's. Not that trucking will not have those things too - but I need a break and have wanted to do this since I as very young. My boys are off on their own and my oldest is married and on his own. They dont need me like they used too. I am divorced so no spouse to expect me home and being 47 - I am ready to start a new career that at least seems to always have open positions.
TD - send me an e-mail on the school you are going too. It's Daveb1092000@yahoo -
if any of you ever need any help or advice i am always here to help you.

I would love to get more indepth answers to the following:
1. I will be paying back the hotel stay?
2. I received two agenda's - one appears to be for someone that already has a CDL and the other is not - is that correct?
those would be great for starters. I am set to be there on April 26th. -
Yes.. you will be paying for everything, hotel, meals, doctors visits, drug tests, training, load locks, load bars etc etc etc. You will be signing paperwork to say that you agree to pay it back with deductions from you weekly paycheck. If you finish the 12 months with the company you don't owe anymore. If you quit at anytime the first year you will owe the full amount, so quit the first month or the last week of the 11th month, you owe it. Got to pay for those new Kenworth T700's some how. Figure on staying 12 months, it will take you that long to learn the ropes anyway.

I had planned on staying as long as I can but I have figured exactly what you are saying to be true.
