from Michigan where the unions over inflated wages, and housing and taxes, and then, oops all the jobs left for people willing to work for less. Now the state of Michigan has no jobs,
thats just a rumor we start to keep the low wage knee cutters from getting a great paying union job!

My daughter just started with Stevens in Dec 2010 and so far she is lovin it. No complaints and she plans on staying with them for the length of her career. BTW, we are from MI also. What part are you from?

TLeaHeart,
Are you able to keep the APU when you get another truck after your lease is up?
Do you ever have to get pallets and does stevens pay for them?
What type of gps mapping system do you use?
Thx in advance! -
Radar, the APU stays with the truck... Stevens lease is NOT a purchase, you turn it back in after 2 years.
Have never had to get pallets, or dispose of pallets. Stevens has it set up that way.
I have the garmin nuvi 465T. It is a tool, just like the atlas is. I use both. Never blindly rely on a stupid computer. -
Jan 1 to jan 9th
Did not start driving until the 2nd
miles ran 3273
Miles paid 1593
Miles yet to be paid 932
okay a little more than a week, but to keep it easy.
Started the new year out in a Hotel room in Butte MT. Don't need to pickup until Monday in Sugar City ID, and I15 south has been closed for 2.5 days. The schedule on the load is tight, so on Sunday, I drive the 209 miles down to sugar city, and find me a place to park for my 2pm appt on Monday. I hope to get loaded early, and check in at 0800, but no luck. Get backed into the door at 1330. No way with the weather, and distance I can make this load on time, but the CSR is ontop of the situation, and asks me for an ETA, which I give her as Friday, noon. She reschedules the delivery for Friday.
Makes my life easier. And when I am loaded, and scaled, I head down to Little america for the night. Only a 6 hour drive, that takes 7. winter driving.
Get up on Tuesday, and Stevens needs help with a load going to Ontario OR, 463 miles away, needs to be there by 1400. Not gonna happen, but I can be there by 1800. Head over to the TA in fort Bridger WY, pick up the load, and head for americold. Check in at 1750, am told there will be a late fee, as no one called, oh hold on, *&%&*&&% didn't do her job again, yes stevens called, you will be a work in.. Thanks
At 0400 wednesday I am awakened, to put it in a door. At 0600 I am empty, and head the 3 blocks over to the pilot to shower. Sleeping on the street is never very good for me. Traffic noise wakes me up.
Get a preplan to pick up on Thursday at 0200 from americold, and deliver on Friday at 0530 in Denver CO, 870 miles...Can not be done legally by a solo driver, and I inform Stevens. CSR sends me a message, stating she is working on getting me load early, stand by...
Then I get the message I get the first week of the year, call ... yep, have to go do a UA, random drug test... Strange it catches me the first week of the year, for the last 3 years. At least it was only 2 miles to the clinic. Dropped the trailer and bobtailed over, and back, all in 45 minutes, including all the hold time on the phone. Has to be logged as on duty time. #### it, starts my 14 hour clock too.
But I am to be loaded between 0800 and 1200, and it is now 1030. Back over to americold, check in, get told I am a work in, here some grumbling from the dock super, as his boss has told him to get me load ASAP.
It is 1400 when I back into the door, and 1500 when I scale, and get my bills.
Pull into "J" Evanston WY, my fuel stop at 2330, fuel and plan on driving to little america, but I will be pushing my 14. But there is a parking spot, a little tight, but an easy back, and I take it in the snow and ice.
run down to Denver, stopping at the TA, time to get the truck serviced, and it is only a short drive over to Safeway. I enjoy the look on the lumper services face, when it is a load that has no charge.
Get dispatched to a load picking up in Holcomb KS, 300 miles away, DLD is Saturday 1700. Eat breakfast, and head east. Get a message my load is ready, that is fine and dandy. Pick it up, and head over to Garden City, and park for the night. tired, and short on hours.
At least I am ahead, of one storm, and north of the other one. Saturday and Sunday were nice pleasant drives, stopping at the J in Millersport OH.
Met up with Barracuda, a former Stevens driver, who now works for Heyl out of the florida terminal, on Saturday Night. Was good to set down and talk over a salad.
The year has started out nicely.Dryver Thanks this.
