12 years old?? You make me feel like an old man! It seems like yesterday when I climbed aboard that airplane and headed to Dallas.

I just wanted to thank you all for posting your thoughts here. You just saved me a lot of grief if I had signed up with Stevens Transport!

How does that saying go? "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is." In my case, had I not been informed I would have made the same mistake as so many others. I really believe now that no job should ever cost you money.

I still plan on becoming a 'Trucker'. I'm going to look around and find a good school to get my class A license and than pound the pavement like everyone else does looking for a good company.

Again, thanks to this forum and the people who have posted their thoughts here.

im glad to hear stevens is getting miles. i was recently offered a raise at my current retail job to stay but i turned it down. trucking is something that i have always wanted to do. i talked to stevens last month and am scheduled to start training april 13th. i am very excited to do something in life that i think i will really like.

Well good luck to y'all period. A few weeks ago I've talked to an O/O who's doesn't drive for Stevens. He said he had 4 loads last month so I'm happy with Stevens.
I was 2 days from my final and they already sent me a pre-plan. 1600 miles.
I'm so convinced that they can give me the miles that I did what I thought I'll never do. I've switched to Alliance.
    I'm sure every1 knows that's Steven's leasing program.
Nobody pushed me to do it. I just went talking to many drivers and then did the math.
    At .85/mile, why not?
Provided I'll need to keep running w/o hometime for a couple more mnths but I didn't go to do OTR to be home every weekend.

To be honest with you $0.85 a mile is not alot at all. If they covered any repair costs it would be another story.

Well I have just finished my 5 weeks on the road with a trainer. After getting the weekend home with my family I am flying to Dallas to finish orientation 2. I have had none of the horror stories reported on here happen to me or the truck I was on. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity so far.

    Baack and redneckolson Thank this.

i will tell you that the lease plan at stevens is a big responsibilaty
you do have to fix the truck but its 90% under warrenty, and you pay at avg, $1.19 a gal for fuel so if you drive the truck right you could actually
make money with the fuel surcharge?? its a bisness so you must act like it.
I just went alliance my self and i know i will make more money then the average new truck driver, because i will make it happen.
    So good luck yall.
