I am looking into a few companies and would like to know if any of you have had any dealings with StevensTransport out of Dallas Tx. Any info would be good. And what about there O/O and Lease Program?

Hi, i don't really know about there O/O policy, but i will be attending a 3 day orentation there in mid august then on the road with a instructor for 4 5 weeks then solo, . A very good friend of mine saysalot of people talk smack about them but the ones who do are full of hogwash, that they are a very "a" class buisness and ran very professionally, i was excepted for werner and swift but i choose stevens.i also know alot of there product is tyson produce and tropicana outta florida and you will mainly see the east coast at the beginning .

can anyone tell anything good or bad about stevens transport. I have been accepted to their training school and I just don't want to make a huge mistake by going all the way to texas and then not liking them.that's quite a bus ride from new york just to get there and then not liking it and busing it back.
-
I was accepted too and than I did a search here and read up on everything and just never bothered to call them back.
-
What part of New York are you from? I spent a lot of time hauling meat loads from the midwest to the east coast, especially NYC and Rochester. Being from New York state would be a plus for hometime. For a lot of Stevens drivers, that's the #1 complaint.
TopFlight is a member here and he's planning on getting hired on with Stevens. I pretty much told him everything I knew. I know things are probably a bit different 6 years later (T2000's with CAT engines now instead of T600's with Cummins back then) but if you have any questions, feel free to IM me. -
well I live in syracuse which is about an hour or so from rochester. and if you say they are a fairly descent company to drive for and if living in new york might get me home more often maybe i'll give them a try. oh yeah bye the way i know they don't let you bring your truck home but does anyone know where the drop yard for stevens is in syracuse supposedly they have one somewhere here
-
Newguy- did you apply to Stevens online? How long did it take for you to hear back from them?
-
The drop yard might be a Kenworth or Thermoking dealer.
I didn't particularly care to take my truck home so I was content to leave the truck in the drop yard Stevens rented in nearby El Paso. I had no place to park it plus my neighborhood is home to more than a few "unsavory" characters. I just had either my mom or dad drive to El Paso to pick me up
It wasn't all peaches and cream. I did have my fair share of dissapointments but they weren't worth having to start over at another company. -
yes, I applied online and they emailed me back the next day.I have been dealing with a sabrina owens one of their recruiters and she has been very helpfull. She seems very forthecoming and straight forward with any questions i've asked no beating around the bush or sidestepping.
