So, I am debating on whether or not to work for these guys. Any feedback from individuals that have worked or work for them would be appreciated.

There is a ton of reading on here to give you the ifo you ask about. I myself have enjoyed my time with STevens and look forward to a long career ith them.
Here are some good places to start reading.

No problem Calidude.
I will tell you that you will see alot of negative statements about Stevens and most all other companies as well on here, and alot of positive as well. Sometimes it can be hard to dig through what is true and what is not.
Stevens is definately not a perfect company by any stretch. As with any large company (and some small ones to lol) there are times when they will piss you off, or make you scratch your head and say HUH? WTF? Sometimes those instances are due to government and or insurance regulations that you may not understand. Somrtimes its because someone sitting in an office has no clue how it will effect the employees.
The other part of this is, figuring out if Trucking is going to be a fit for you at all. All of these training companies start anywhere from 20 to 100 or more new recruits every week. And usually before the first week is out half of them are on the way back home. Trucking can be a great experience, but it can also be something you find that you can not stand to do at all. It depends on alot of different things.
Be sure to do your research and understand what will be expected of you. Being away from home for weeks on end and home for only a few days. Living out of the confines of a truck. Driving through bad weather etc...
Anyway. I wish you luck in this pursuit and if you have any specific questions about Stevens, feel free to post, or send me a PM. -
Well, I have been looking at a lof of companies and read the post from people. Here is my conclusion, CRST=horrible company, Swift=okay company, CR England= The worst of the worst, Central Ref=bad company, Prime=good company, and stevens, good company. So it will be either prime or stevens. I am leaning towards stevens because there are l/o's that are actually successful, unlike prime where it traps you into starving yourself. I mean just what I have read. It is not to talk to someone that went through it and enjoys it. I have had 7 jobs in the last three years, so hopefully that is okay w/them. They are verifiable. Great mvr, no felonies or anything like that. So I think I will be good to go. Werner, CR, Prime, Swift and CRST have approved me to attend orientation. Stevens is processing my app, but due to this darn holiday I wont know till monday.

Ahh, cool. I cant say I could disagree with any of your conclusions lol
You should be fine then to get into Stevens. Keep us posted. -
So saying what I said about myself I think I should be okay, do you know their requirements for work history?
-
The fact is, without the possibility of failing miserably, you cannot be an independent contractor (lease operator) legally. Thats part of the IRS regulation that defines who can legally be considered an independent contractor. There are no guarantees.
Good luck at Stevens. -
I think you are confusing Central and Stevens. I think you should go back and count good and bad opinions on the threads. You know that Stevens is team driving right? Not sure how you feel about team driving. Very difficult but pays more. You will be hitting the ground running that's for sure. Of course if you learn this way first it maybe good for you. Good luck to you!

Point taken Iron Pony, Chompi I do plan on going team. I see it this way, since I will not be home most of the time, I might as well make the most out of it, and going team seems to be the way to do that.
