I went to the World Wide Careers in Keensburg, CO. It's the 2nd school I've been to in the last 19 years. It's an ok school like any other. It's sponsored by Stevens, BUT, you don't have to go to Stevens, some students stayed local, I used my GI Bill to pay for it all so I would not be an indentured servant and owed no school or company ANYTHING!
I did go to Stevens for 2 weeks, the trainer I had was psycho, plus he had been on the road 4 months without a break and after 21 yrs in the Navy, I can tell from experience he was insane. Stevens Transport is one of the bottom feeder companies that pay low, most of the students I went to the school with jumped from Stevens to Crete after 4 months in a bump in pay up to 41¢.
The school top 2 big guys are:
    1. VERY LOUD when he speaks
    2. Uses a voice mechanical larynx.
The guys on the pad that teach you to drive are all ok guys, except one trainer, if he is still there will talk about how he used to drive for Pepsi and the way he treats the students that are paying his salary is kind of an @$$hole. But all companies have that one type of person. There is a long haired blonde guy that is outstanding at teaching you to back your trailer. The 3 weeks go by fast. As long as you listen to the trainers you will pass. Ignore ALL students that have been there for the 2nd and 3rd week. I mean, who would you rather listen to for advice, students who have been there 1-2 weeks before you or trainers with decades of experience who are paid to train you?

If you don't want to leave your family, then look for local trucking companies that will take student drivers, if you want the over the road, Stevens is a good company to start with until you get your feet wet and then know whether you want to stay with them or move on after a few months. If you go to Stevens and after your training is completed they will try to entice you into a Lease (Fleece) program. With 2 months of basic experience, my advice is, don't. It will always be there, talk to non-Stevens drivers at truck stops on owner operator or leasing a truck. Get many opinions before locking yourself into a lease program for 2 years. The trainer I mentioned above was in the last 6 months of his lease. He said his first 8 months he got a LOT of miles and was making good money, when he notified Stevens that he was not going to renew, his miles went down. The 2 weeks I was with him we drove a combined 3500 miles. For 14 days, that is a negative profit for a lease owner. He was losing money working there.
Regarding the school, it's an accredited school and you will pass as long as you listen to the trainers there and what they say.

The 2 main guys in the office own the company and some of the trainers are their children/sons. It's a family business, so most if not all the trainers will still be there.

I lived 12 miles west in Brighton, CO, so I was home in 10 min off of I-76. From the people I went through the course with said the rooms are crap, which is plausible since they rotate students out of there every week for decades. Also there are only 2 places to eat in Keensburg, so if you have a car, bring it or you will be stuck literally in the middle of nowhere for 3+ weeks. Brighton is growing and you have Applebees, Chilis, IHOP, Village Inn, Chic Fil A, McD, BK, Wendy's, The 3 big Pizza places, Chinese, Vietnamese, Italian and Mexican restaurants to choose from. You are 1/2 hour East of Denver, so on the weekends, get out, enjoy the city and what it has to offer. I live in South Carolina now, drive for the VA in Augusta, GA. I also drove locally, after Stevens Transport with a small company in Aurora, CO.
