I have made it a year and can count my blessings (on one hand) but I have money in the bank and food on the table. I originally wanted to do a year and bail to a 'better' company I'm waiting to see how high fuel/low frieght pay is going to work its damage on the industry at large.
I rolled 100,000 miles solo before I realized I need to make more pay, my wife was being hounded by crediters at home. before I could say 'oh snap!' I signed up to be a trainer. I know, I know... alot of folks use the word like its of the four letter variety. I was determined not to be one of those horror stories that are told here daily.
I've had 6 students half of them are 4 are still working for werner as of right now. one got close to home and found out he had a local job and quit on the spot, one has no future as a truck driver. he just doesn't get it, and thats all I'll say about him.
I've been training for about three and a half months solid and now I'm going to take a short break for about 10 days and run solo, it'll be like a mini vacation.
now I have a nearly new century class that only had 72,500 miles when I picked it up. in 30 days of running 'team' it now has almost 95,000.
the miles have dropped of substantially since july, must be an election year!
stay safe all, some day I hope to get a lap top so I can keep tabs on the corners of the internet that I like.
sticking it out at werner for now
