Reasons why I don't head into Laredo without a load out prior.Swift says all they want that they are forced dispatch but always remeber any reason to not goto somewhere you dont want to be is a good one if you argue hard enough or don't respond to the preplan. Do it like a boss Company or O/o / L/o.

true as that may be not to a swifty.Company or otherwise. Mega carrier flat rate work + surcharge. Sometimes it can be good but most of the time it's bad

Last time I was in Laredo - I unloaded that AM and had preplan T-call that I could p/u after midnight - I was in the Denny's in a booth across for and independent O/O husband/wife team. She was working the internet and he was working the phone ... they had been there for 4 days and the best they were getting was $.20 mile less than what I was getting paid.

There are some Swift O/O and L/O working now with a test program where they will be able to also work with a broker to get loads. Hearing mixed reviews right now.

My over all gross is up $.08 a mile - straight to the bottom line, since there is no change to my expense model.
Success is still dependent on the same things as working with Swift ... communication, relationship and knowing where the hot freight lanes are. With the added caveat, you need to do your research to know what those lanes pay.
