"The microbe Brevibacterium thrives in dark, humid areas and helps give your feet (and some cheeses) their awful stink.
The fix: Twice a week, soak your feet for 5 minutes in a solution of half white vinegar (a germ killer) and half salt water (to dry skin). Moisture-wicking socks made with Coolmax fabric can help keep your feet dry."

My sister used to work in a factory with a lot of Muslim men. She told me they prayed every morning, and they had to have clean feet to pray, so they'd wash their feet in the toilet. She said "don't they understand that the toilet is dirty?"

Okay, I have a slightly offset question. My son is heavy into the gymnastics (placed 5th in the state, woohoo proud mommy bragging), but he has "stinky" feet and he has caused some of his sneakers to smell foul, the ones were he wore no socks. Does/Has anyone got a helpful hint with this problem?:biggrin_2551:

My feet do the same thing.. cause that which comes into contact with them to smell.

i found that the soles of my feet go sort of jelly like, and it gets into whatever i have on, socks shoes..

i have gotten into the habit of keeping my feet out in the air eg no socks or shoes as often as possible, and this seems to stop this problem. it was leaving craters on my feet which were annoying and ugly.

i noted the bigest change however when i started wearing good quality boots ( caterpillar work boots ) .. i would say that airflow into the shoes is very important in my limited observation

LOL, I love the toilet picture!!

Personally I swear by foot powders. There are several different kinds, but a cornstarch-based powder works best for me....I don't know if I'm allowed to name brands but y'all can PM me if you want a suggestion. I'll say that the brand I use is *not* a widely known foot-care "brand".....and it works SO much better than the alternatives. Not "cakey" at all, and leaves my feet feeling cool and fresh even in my shoes :)

I used to work as a baggage handler for Delta, sweating & being out in the rain all day, but I never had much of a problem with foot odor. As long as I aired my boots out every day & showered, no problems.

But when I started trucking & got on the truck with my trainer, suddenly I had stinky feet. I was sort of at the "mercy" of the way she ran, and we definitely did not get a shower every day. Being in the presence of somebody else made me extra sensitive about it. I tried wiping my feet down regularly with the baby wipes she had on hand, but it didn't help. I had some after-shower body powder with me & I began using it on my feet.

It worked well- NO more foot odor.....no matter how sweaty I get or if I was going on day 2-3 without a shower, my feet don't stink. And today even though I'm off the road, I never put a pair of shoes on without some powder. I love the feeling of having nice dry feet, LOL....and keeping your feet dry will inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungus which cause odors.

You might try putting newspapers in his shoes when he is not wearing them. I know that is sounds crazy but I tried it on my shoes that my daughter wore. She has stinky feet too. You just have to change the papers everyday. I did it for a week and the smell started to go away. So now I put the papers in my shoes and my daughters almost everyday. Let me know if this helps. :yes2557:

Multiple pairs of shoes help a lot.

I wear cheap "beach" shoes most of the time, for air flow.

But, I have 3 pair or regular shoes I rotate. I try not to wear any of them more than 2 days in a row. And I swap my socks, as often as 3 times a day.

    make him wear socks?

funny but true: it's still cleaner than half the world population's drinking water.
