If you've read anything I've ever written about Swift, you know I'm not a Swift-basher. So, when I stop and take the time to write a note such as this, I hope you'll take it very seriously. I'm about to make you very angry and hopefully save you over $1,500 a year that you should never have had taken from you!
Today, I called the benefits hotline for information on a completely unrelated issue, but what I found out has me wanting to file a class-action lawsuit!
I found out that even after I had indicated that my spouse was unable to obtain health insurance anywhere else, and that no one on the policy smoked, they AUTOMATICALLY reversed that indication in my file, WITHOUT notifying me, after open enrollment! The result? Approximately $30 PER PAYCHECK taken away from my pay for the entire previous year! That comes out to approximately $1,560 for the year!
That's a lot of money. Multiply that by only 10,000 drivers, not Swift's entire workforce and unlikely anywhere near the actual number of employees enrolled in Aetna's health insurance, and you get over $15 million dollars each year!
Folks, I highly encourage you to call the hotline and find out if you have been wrongfully paying $30 each and every paycheck. The charges are called spousal surcharge and smokers surcharge. Even if you smoke, you need to find out if you have been charged the spousal surcharge.
Then, I suggest you demand a refund and don't stop until you get it. Then I suggest you let drivers and other terminal employees you know about this because they are subscribed to the same policy drivers are and are getting charged these same fees!
I will find out next week if they are going to authorize a refund. If not, I will be taking the matter up the chain of command until all options are exhausted and I'm forced to take legal action.
Stop! Must read if you have aetna medical

And I bet they'll say we don't know nothing about it. Hope you get your money back. It is getting where everyone is on the making money pyramid schemes.

I had it for a few months...went to see the doctor, and they refused to pay as they say it was a pre-existing condition, despite no evidence anywhere in my history (or family history) that the condition had ever occurred, even after releasing medical records to them and filling out the "pre-existing condition". $200/month for NOTHING.
This was just last year, BTW. -
I thought they had to cover pre-existing conditions? Oh well, I guess its just as well that I don't bother with medical insurance anyway. I'll take my chances on my own, thanks.

After thinking about it for a bit, I figured I would spend less paying cash for a doc and prescriptions than I would having a policy that after I pay the premiums I STILL have to pay 100%. So I said C-YA!!
