40mph or less is not making enough progress for me. I can pull over and wait until the conditions are safe enough to make decent time and at better pace. Guess that just makes me a lazy driver, huh?

So if it’s snowing for a week straight, who’s made more progress?

I don't care about "progress" Super Trucker. I'll stay home where it's safe for me and everyone else on the road as well. Calling me scared and lazy for making a decision I find to be the safest is beyond ignorant of you. Ignored.

And how often does that happen? Mostly it's wait until the morning. Now if you are talking about specific spot like going over a pass that's one thing. But the very vast majority of the time it's better to not waste your 70 doing 35mph for hours . Just park it get some rest and move in the morning.

That may be true for you in your circumstances, but lots and lots of drivers never come close to burning up their 70, or have time sensitive freight (live animals, hospital supplies, JIT goods needed on time). In other cases, shutting down will make you miss the next load, meaning more sitting.

If the road is open and the chains are in good shape, I’ve always moved.
