Hoping to finally get started next month and need to move a few boxes out of the folks' home and move it into storage. Anyone else in a similar situation? Just wondering if my things will be alright there while gone OTR. The place is trust worthy but wondering if anyone has had any issues or things I should be aware of with storage facilities. Thanks
Storage unit safe worthy enough?

record serial numbers, etch items, buy a high quality pad lock or two, take pictures, tuck that pull cord under the door when you shut it.

Note down everything and their worth? Man that would take ages.. It's really just books, movies, music, clothes, etc.

You're fine. Try to find an independent place where someone lives there and has a bunch of guns if you can. If not i mean the chances of anything happening are very low. Rent a storage unit in a decent area. If you live in the ghetto rent in the next city over..

There is one I know of like that. Near a fire station haha. The storage units are also in a temp controlled environment. Looking at 40 a month for the amount of stuff I have.

Here in HI someone busted the weak gypsum board walls and got some good stuff. Check for unit to unit security.

Just go talk to them. Strike up a conversation. Tell them your situation and that you are concerned for the safety of your property. And ask them what type of security measures they have taken...
