    Hello Yendor,

I am looking to drive truck again. From what I am reading a straight truck over a van is the way to go.?
What companies are the best to go with in your opinion?
    I want to drive solo.
Can you give me a example formula of how the pay and fsc works?

    Thanks!!

    1. i have a good question,,,cargo vans that dont haul passengers or hazmat under 10,000lbs are all using MC numbers becuase they cross states lines. But there not FMCSA regulated, well MC numbers are a FMCSA rule.

You are subject to FMCSA regulations if you operate any of the following types of commercial motor vehicles in interstate commerce:
      · A vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating (whichever is greater) of 4,537 kg (10,001 lbs.) or more

      · A vehicle designed or used to transport between 9 and 15 passengers (including the driver) for compensation, whether direct or indirect

      · A vehicle designed or used to transport 15 or more passengers including the driver and not used for compensation

      · Any size vehicle used in the transportation of materials found to be hazardous for the purposes of the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act (49 U.S.C. 5101 et seq.) and which require the motor vehicle to be placarded under the Hazardous Materials Regulations (49 CFR Parts 100-177). This includes INTRASTATE Hazardous Materials carriers

    2. On FMCSA website,if you dont apply to the above then your not regulated, but then they say if you cross state lines then you need MC numbers in ADDITION to DOT numbers,,,,o_O,,,but your not regulated in the first place,,im confusedo_O

Single axle straight trucks are horrible in snow and ice. Empty tandems not much better.

But what do I know? I spent some time in a dump truck.

I drove a little tiny Fuso 20 foot box type Mechedes once into Baltimore from Jessup and aside from the funny transmission, it would hop on every single one of those old pre-blacktop concrete plates on 95. Every 12 feet. Hop hop hop hop.

I came out of there making sure that I swear by all things holy I will never be in one of those again. You could show me a million dollars delivered to my house gratis and I still wont do it.

You would need to consider one very vital concern. Dock high cargo trucks will be most advantageous over a van. Also vans can not take larger loads and there are many vans to compete for the type of freight they can carry. Get two years with a combination truck and trailer then hire on with expediters.
