That's being awful generous to the truck driver community as a whole. I have never once heard a driver later, truthfully admit they were in the wrong following a crash. So am I to believe truck drivers are perfect, saints, and forever truthful? I'm not saying the subject here is being honest or is lying, but I am going to reiterate I will be skeptical until I can be proven wrong. There is A LOT of fraudulent applications hitting carrier HR desks every day. I know of drivers using a "friend" as a contact number for a past "carrier reference". The HR person interrogates the "carrier contact" just a little and come to find out they don't know the first thing about trucks or their alleged business. Desperate and "clever" people have dozens of ways of trying to pull crap on potential employers in the application and employment history documentation process. Most reputable carriers who've been doing it a while have seen it all by now and have gotten good about detecting BS.
That said, I realize many don't get too deep into the verification process until late in the game, and I never will understand this. But this practice is nothing new and anyone who's been doing it long enough to call themselves "experienced" and do not have a big skeleton in their closet they're trying to hide, should know nothing is guaranteed in this industry, anywhere. Right or wrong, it is what it is.

Please someone tell me why the hell anyone would travel from Maryland to North Dakota to go to a orientation for a OTR job & not have all their ducks in a row?
If you fill out any application in OTR the company by LAW has to verify all employment for 10yrs if it is CMV related. Common sense tells me I won't leave my doorstep without having a way home if something happens & they can't hire me.
Maybe companies shouldn't even pay your way to orientation & then we would have more people who could function like an adult & be prepared for a job opportunity. -

Ego is that a person thinks they are too smart, clever, or whatever and can trick the company into hire an otherwise unqualified driver.
Desperation is, I hope, self explanatory. They will do anything for an income.bryan21384 and Just passing by Thank this. -

As a previous driver and my son is going to North Dakota for orientation. I have a million questions before you leave.
Did you ask your son anything before leaving for this adventure? Sometimes I think sharing information with family can be helpful. -
