I admit that part of the story bothers me. So he got removed from orientation because his references weren’t complete, available or sufficient? Hmmm. Could be an easy excuse for another reason. At my orientation the only ones immediately dismissed were the ones who failed a drug test or lied about tickets

Companies fail to do all the checks etc because the recruiters are simply trying to fill the quota of getting ##### in the seats for orientation. Its not so much about getting them hired..its more of meeting that number. Most of these companies advertise the $1000 or $5000 sign on..when in fact most pay out over a period of time. They know more than half if not more never make it that far..either due to failed drug test, physical, road test or what have you. I blame a lot of these companies for not vetting the hiring pool better..because we are left with the wannabe drivers that we have on the road now.

    Lets expound on that.
Monday orientation starts. Background and paperwork checks are done.
Tuesday. Drug test and safety videos.
    Wednesday. More paperwork and videos.
    Thursday. Drug test comes back.

Thursday mom says her son got stranded from "bad references" Kinda funny the same day wold be the typical day drug test comes back.

Never change TR. A concerned parent comes here asking for help in getting their kid home. What does he get? A tongue lashing abt honesty on job applications..

    "over-entitled, rude jerks. "

Unfortunately sounds like too many of the experienced drivers.

No matter what u are right. You can’t blame a parent for being freaked out. No matter why the kid is out on the street, he needs help from somebody.

You mean like the clown tanker tanker that deliberately clogged the Lake Forest service plaza on I94 north of Chicago yesterday?

I guess parking a tanker is now just too friggin' hard....like parking a van, reefer, flat, or anything else.

Thank God I go home every weekend. Two whole blessed days when I don't have to deal with flippin' TRUCK DRIVERS!

I've been in this field since June of 1998. This is the absolute WORST I have seen as far as "professional driver" behavior. And it's getting worse every day.
