On i-40 in TN somewhere, ice storm, 13 hours in same spot, didnt move an inch..Trooper came walking down the middle of the lane next day, knocking on cars and trucks to wake people up. As we started driving came upon 100s of abandoned cars(out of gas) and 100s of snowmen along the roadside; coolest thing ever!

Somewhere on that section of road, there were people that bordered the road who brought out drinks and I think blankets and gas. It was in on one the reports. Truckers would be more lucky than a car driver stuck if they keep supplies on the truck.

Hudson power plant in Jersey City...parked outside the gate next to the RR tracks. Between the trains every hour, and the drug dealers making all sorts of noise, I didn't sleep well...

I took my 34 hour break, unwillingly, at a mostly abandoned business center, in Banning, CA.

My exhaust filter threatened to derate me, so I had to get it cleaned, and the only shop that could do it told me that was their address. They lied. It was just convenient for them to meet there. The shop was an hour North, in Hesperian.

It sat on top of a hill, overlooking I-10, an RV sales lot, and a really trashy bar that I used for my restroom.

Had to wait nearly two days for the mechanics to return my filter and reinstall it. Sherrif gave my trailer a ticket, bums broke beer bottles in the middle of the night, and I got to see a lot of drug deals from my vantage point.

My conclusion: stay the hell out of Banning.

The first bad sign was seeing the shopping cart that had been stripped of its wheels.

Parked in a cornfield once with and excavator on the float. Woke up in the morning to the farmer knocking on the door. Figured he would be not too impressed. Turns out he wanted to rent the excavator to dig a drainage ditch. The rental fee paid was well worth my time off
