My straps always seem to slip off palpated coils, no matter what I do. I don’t understand what I am doing wrong?

If the strap isnt absolutely straight across a single, itll never really stay on taller coils.

Just x strap them if you cant get it dead straight across.

Also, if youre using the steel edge protectors, thats probably contributing to the strap moving, use felt or rubber

Or just use chains and be done with it.

I'm sure the customer will love that when they can't use 10 ft of their product from every coil. This is eye to the sky skidded coils.

Long FLD and Ericfrancs101 Thank this.

Interesting, which way….like put the strap the length of the 2X4 so the strap isn’t hitting a curve of the coil?

I’ve never broke a chain but I sure have had straps break over the years haha.

Depends on the material, the big coils going to be made into soda cans…they don’t want a scratch on them. They don’t even really want you to secure them to get them where they are going. They say things like, now don’t tighten it down too tight. My eyes roll back in my head.

    After reading the shippers remarks.
    Not on my trailer.
The shipper needs to package the freight so it can be secured without damage.
Eye to the sky would take two 4x4s one on each side and straps across to secure.

I used pieces of old car and light truck tires cut so you had the sidewall and part of the tread as almost like a small edge protector. Worked great the rubber really gripped the coils without marring them.
