So what exactly do you do with the rope? Anchor the rope at one end, then run the rope back and forth across each side through each grommet then cinch it down with a taut line hitch knot or something?

Yes i just tie a regular knot but a quadrouple knot . ive had a double knot come apart in the wind... But you pull the rope as tight as you can and what it does is pull the slack out of the sides of the tarp. The reason a tarp will balloon out is because wind gets underneath the sides... This will keep that from happening... I used to start with the sides of the tarp first but always found myself fighting the bulge on the sides. As soon as i tried doing the fronts and backs first i never had that problem and my tarps have become much tighter

I'll try that my next tarp load and hopefully it helps. Do you put the flap over top or underneath the sides you fold in?

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

If it is a nice square load i tuck it underneath and fold the sides over top because i think it looks cleaner to me. But some guys like to put it over top on the front to keep the wind from getting in. Whichever is easier for you will work

Just seems like A LOT of extra work and worry for very little or no extra compensation.

Dude backing in across from me right as I'm typing this has his straps over his tarps.

I'm going to go tell him he's afu.

D.Tibbitt and Kyle G. Thank this.
