    Hi,

My dad has a laptop with Vista on it and is having mouse trouble. He read that it is a bug in Vista. He was thinking about dumping Vista and going back with XP. He also saw that I was running Ubuntu on my laptop and liked it. The only thing that would be stopping him is that he won't be able to use Streets and Trips. He uses Streets and Trips, as well as his road atlas everyday instead of using a GPS. He has been hearing something about the government going to sell the GPS satellites to a private company, which could mean that the private companies will start charging a monthly subscription fee.

Does anyone else here use Ubuntu and have a program equivalent to Streets and Trips?

    Thanks,

I don't have a GPS unit on my laptop, I use Google earth for maps. I did a little digging though and found this:

    http://www.gpsdrive.de/download.shtml

the .deb file is the one you want for Ubuntu. Just double click it like you would a windows .exe file and it will open up synaptic and install. There are some screenshots on the page as well. You also might be able to get MS Streets and Trips itself running using WINE.
