I was thinking the truck may never be the same. Glad you weren't injured @Concorde

Hopefully that’ll be everything but I’m skeptical your ecm is functional
I’d ask tech if he individually checked and tested every sensor mentioned...or jus read diagnostics off ecm??

You know, you aren't too far off. I read, a SINGLE lightning bolt( 300 MILLION volts) could supply a big city with juice for a lifetime. Storage is the key. Sound familiar?

    JoeyJunk and Concorde Thank this.

I just left the dealership, had to grab a few things before I fly home tomorrow morning.

Got talking with one of the technicians because the adjuster is going there tomorrow. Just mentioned that without visible damage there is a possibility that they deny the claim.

Tech said that I don’t have to worry because my truck was doing some crazy stuff. Moved it out in the yard and shut it off and the suspension raised along with the seat, lol

Exactly how they diagnosed everything, I really don’t know. They do know that everything electronic is suspect for failure either now or later. So as I understand it is they got to replace the first items before they can go any further.

The only thing positive about this whole situation is that I got 1st class tickets home, seated right behind where they hide the beer :) IMG_4298.png IMG_9032.gif

Heres hoping they total it, if they dont, id recommend trying to get rid of it as fast as possible, or in the meantime buy a cheapo truck to keep running

A lightning strike will often do the kind of damage that doesn't show up right away. We had a lumber truck get hit by a pretty good charge and the shop fought with that thing for six months before they finally gave up and parted it out. By then we had so much shop time into it, chasing damage, that we didn't make a dime on it.

Great, something new to worry about if the truck ever gets hit. Coming back home across the Ohio Turnpike a couple weeks ago one afternoon, there was a good one during a thunderstorm that touched down in an open field not too far off the roadway and I said wow, lets hope it's not my lucky day for that action.

    Finally made it home!

Glad that they let our plane get past before they sent the rocket

1:20 am and they got nothing better to do :)

It actually doesn't even take a direct hit, a lightning bolt can induce enough current to cause damage if it's close enough.
