I was a trainer and lead the orientation process for a petroleum company for 3 years. If you didn't have a detailed orientation from someone who has actually performed the job they all already set you up for failure. You need to not follow exactly what your trainers routine is as each person is different and I've seen time and time again where a new guy will get frustrated bc hes not doing it exactly like his trainer. All routine are similar but each person does there own so get into your own an stick with it. Once you are out on your own you will continue to build your routine for loading and unloading. Do things like this. When your loading and you don't want to contaminate a compartment write on your paperwork which loading arm is going into that compartment. Example if you have 6 arms and your using arm 3 write it above the gallons in you paperwork. When your unloading get yourself a fill lid color chart it's a never fail sheet. Small stuff like this you will learn and it's sad to see new guys struggle where trainers make it to difficult.

Man don't worry I've hauled it all you just need to slow down remember this even if it takes you 30 mins longer to off load or load better than putting the wrong product in the wrong tank. Work from either the trailer to the riser or riser to trailer and one product at a time hook up ref and get that flowing then hook up super get that flowing and diesel always double check yourself it's easier than making the mistake of rushing. Also when I carry a small note book with me I put 1-5 and gallons and product in them and customer it's going to if I have more than one drop on trailer so you can look into it and know what's going on and I'll also write it on my bol and delivery slip
Also first thing I do I stick the tank or check clock guage or veered root make sure I got enough room. Then I vent open master then bucket and work from the trailer to the fills and when they are empty i work from trailer to fills and always lift hoses to clean them out good and put tank cards to empty or vapors when completed I did lp gas before gasoline so it came quick and just take time at the racks if you rush you could load etoh 87 instead of 93 or b100 instead of pulsd I would rather see you take your time and do the job right than be fast and make mistakescrb and merlensbox Thank this. -
I do the same I have a lid color chart I also have rack configurations for terminals I been going to for years I also have dot site locations I also have a note book where I write info like ulsd in front and 87 in rear to run 2 lines and tank sizes and how to pull into the place because could be months til I go back but gets easier with time but do this have him let you do everything and have him stop you if he sees anything that your doing wrong so you can get your own routine my trainer sucked 3 days worth of driving but been doing lp gas for 10 yrs and I still write in my lil book tank 1-5 gallons and what arms I'm putting on them and product just a extra step that pays off

I know I know ulsd first but you get what I'm saying

Always unload and load your odd ball product first. Meaning anything other than 87 Oct. Less chance of a mess up knowing you load or unloading that first plus if there was a contamination they can still sell the product for a reduced cost
merlensbox Thanks this. -
Well up here we do a lot more ulsd, fuel oil and some gas but not a lot but a ton of pump work
-
If you unload diesel first, not only are you less likely to cross-drop, but also the gasoline in subsequent drops will clean your hose out, and you won't have to cap & plug them to avoid a mess in the hose tray.
