Well hello everyone, Original Poster checking in. Yes four or five years later. How about that Covid eh? didn't affect my pay one bit except drive it up. so that's a plus. but don't let politics sidetrack this old dead post. PLEASE.

Oh, how naive I was then. Now I don't know that I would have been successful without all that stress and worry so I can't say it was unnecessary or even excessive. But I still remember my heart pounding as I put in those presets and hit enter. I forget how long the anxiety lasted but I remember that feeling vividly. I hauled fuel for three and a half years with the company that trained me. I made zero transmix, but I did upgrade some regular on accident a couple more times. I had one delivery to the wrong store. We had two company stores on the same street within a mile of eachother. I also overfilled one tank on accident due to a bad sensor and some confusion with the stick reading that I should have given more mental weight to figure out. So all in all I was very successful in that I didn't make any expensive mistakes. By the time I left, I was a steady reliable top performer/earner. I had bought a second home and decreased my consumer debt significantly. would have had zero consumer debt if not for my wife's love of shopping.
I left about a year and a half ago seeking more time at home with my wife and kids. significant pay cut, but I was home in time for dinner every day, and had weekends off so we made it work. Now I have decided to leave trucking altogether to pursue a 4-year degree in either computer science or engineering. This will be even more of a pay reduction because we are living on borrowed money now. I owe this opportunity to the VA for the GI Bill and fuel hauling for propelling my income for those years. to all those who were supportive I appreciate you you were right I just didn't realize it t the time. For the couple of naysayers, I got a few bags of penises sitting here for you.

TLDR; I struggle to learn it at first, but fuel hauling for just a few years changed my quality of life in a big way allowing me to set a path back to school to earn a degree It was a rough haul not just learning the ropes but also being a high performer at work put a strain on my family life.
