Ok guys so as I've said in some of the other threads I have a 4 year old Stryker 655 that I've only used for about six months total. On Friday last week I got a different truck at work, swapped everything over from the old truck and checked the swr it was 1.3:1, then later that day it shoots up to 3:1 and I noticed that the variable power is either all the way down with the knob turned to the left, or it goes right to full power as soon as you move it off the far left position. The colors on the faceplate also change colors in different locations on it's own, and the channel selector is lose.

Today I ran my 8awg wire for my 98vhp to see how that radio faired in the truck since when I tested the swr today it showed 2.5:1 with the stryker. Hooked up the 98 and the needle barely wiggles all across the band. So it's definitely a radio problem with the stryker. Any idea's what it could be before I send it out to get fixed?

    What?

Send it out to be fixed, it is obvious something wrong with the radio.

By the way you using an external meter?

I assume not but I maybe wrong.

After reading my post again, it seems pretty clear to me what I was saying. And yes I used an external swr meter, it reads exactly the same as my 98vhp. I was just posting here in case anyone else has had similar issues so I can be prepared for what it should take to repair the radio.

It sounds like there is something internal to the radio, example is the colors changing and the power going up, maybe a ground is loose within the radio.

That's what I was thinking but I wasn't sure if one of the drivers going bad could give me the the high swr and variable power issue. I think the colors, and the channel knob are a related problem.

I would love to confirm this with an MFJ analyzer.

Or you can send it to fine tune cb shop. $100.00 on shipping for both ways plus what it will cost to to fix it. By then you will be better of buying a new one. ( yes, it was a sarcastic comment)

Im working in borrowing one. But both of my swr meters are accurate according to my mobile setup which uses a bird dual line section to measure forward and reflect.

I use or have to build another power cord with 4ga. Welding cable. Anderson connecter to the radio and a inline fuse down at the power source the battery. Don't trust 8ga. To give me full power to a 300 watt or 400 watt radio. But that's just my opinion one of many on here....
