See if your trainer will assist you in learning to throw iron while the weather is better. It may not be something he wants to run on, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get a general knowledge of doing it in case you have to.

Well, Red Simpson recorded a song in 1966 called "Roll truck, roll". Starts out how he's going down the Feather river canyon since Donner Pass is closed today.

Boogers I would follow company policy. It basically means to chain up to get to the nearest T/S and park until the roads are clear. Sitting Reno isn't too bad,at least you can go gamble. Try sitting in Little America,Wy. for 3 days. You can expect sit somewhere from 1-3 days anytime of the year due weather,so get use to it.

    Yep, Landshark has it right....

You chain up and find the nearest casino parking lot. Then I would be eating crab legs off the buffet and playing Texas Holdem all night. :)

I think you answered your own question. If the company preaches to only use chains to get out of trouble, not in trouble, what more do you need to know? Plus, without knowing more about your trainer, it's impossible to say. Some mega-carriers will let you train after 6 months to a year of experience. If your trainer falls under this category, do you REALLY want to put your life in is hands?

A driver with a year of experience knows probably 100% what you know as a trainee. I was a hell of a lot more clueless in training, than out.

Follow the COMPANY POLICY they have it in place for reason.

If you are so GUNG HO to chain up , get out chain up then take them off about 20 times where your sitting , it will get it out of your system real fast.

Yup...the trainer is scared...of losing his job. If the company policy is not to chain up, then that's the policy and the teaching opportunity.
