Been here about 2 and half hours. Not moving at all. Cars and trucks cannot get up the hill about 30 miles east of Dallas. Almost a carnival. People are giving out and sharing food, water, cigarettes.

Why you stuck?

Ice and snow would be my guess. They got 6 inches of snow in Dallas today. They don't have salt trucks there.
-
just ice on a long uphill. They dont have plows , thats the main problem. They just dump sand on top of the snow. By noon most of the snow was melted by the sun. About 1 inch of ice out here on the interstate. Some of the drivers are going to sleep. There is one truck driver too scared to go up the hill, and hes blocking everyone else. Dont know where the hell the cops are.
Lilbit Thanks this. -

Sorry,
Shoulda pulled off.
Southern States are not able to handle white stuff, so you do NOT try to run on it down here. -
Postscript: It was so bad they closed the entire toll road system down. http://www.click2houston.com/news/26750559/detail.html

I am medicineman Thanks this. -
All it takes is one soldier that can't make it up the hill and the whole platoon falls! I can't count the number of times I have gotten stuck behind those guys! Don't feel so bad being stuck out there in Tyler, I was stuck in Tyler for 6 weeks! Got pancreatitus and ended up in the hospital there!

They had something like that happen in WI on I-39/90 near the Rock Co/Dane Co border a couple of winters ago. Road crews didn't do a very good job on one particular stretch, and drivers ended up stranded for about 19 hours.
