I graduate Truck Driving school on June 13th and havent chosen a company. I'm basically looking for a company that pays well and I don't mind unloading trucks or touch frieght. I also plan on going over the road. I just want a company that will have me home every 3-4 weeks and one I will get good experience with. I welcome all suggestions

Check out Con-way Truckload. Start at .26 for 7500 miles with trainer. Goes to 30 with first solo load, then .32, .34, .36 e every 30,000 miles or so. At the end of first year, it's .36 or maybe .37 with recent pay raise. Then another .01 for every safe mile, paid quarterly. Good luck!

Unless you just want the OTR experience , then try the local grocery store warehouse's or ask the grocery store manager where he gets his trucks from and go talk to them. That type of trucking is a home nightly ( mostly) deal. Most of those companies pay well , and have great benefits / retirement too. Or get your haz-mat and tanker endorsements and try the gas and fuel companies..again home most nights , or days depending on shift that you run...good pay etc...or try the food-service places , some hire newbies and they pay very well , home daily too , but it's work ! Good luck!

truth is just starting out you will have to pay your dues intill you get a year or two under your belt. you wont start at the top anywhere you go. you are going to spend the next year with a trainer at some big frieght carrier making crappy wages. sorry, thats just trucking

You do show a good attitude. I like that you understand that you will be gone awhile.
Because of Insurance requirements most companies that pay well require 2 years of experience. That is why you will not be making a lot of money to start. You can make up to 65,000 but the real good money starts after that. Chinatown likes to point out those Orange trucks and their tankers as the best way to start. I would look into them.
Find a company that you can retire from so that all your experience counts. It gets old real fast having to start at the bottom every few months.kingcoop478 Thanks this. -
Go to knight .35 to .41 or Prime .37 or .41 depending on the truck you pick

Do you want to run coast-to-coast or regional? Some companies only run Eastern half of USA or maybe just Western states. Where is your location so we know the hiring area you live in.

I plan on doing coast to coast or otr. I reside in Georgia, I understand that the cent per mile means nothing unless i'm running pretty well that's why I want some good training. I really don't want a trainer who's fresh out of school or 6 months to a year. I would really perfer someone who could teach me the tricks of the trade

Is your interest refrigerated, flatbed, tankers?
kingcoop478 Thanks this. -
Chinatown I honestly don't have an interest in any one. I know refrigerated has to be unloaded which I don't mind doing and have experience and also know you make a few extra bucks doing so. I don't mind doing flatbed either. Tanker I was told you make more money and have to have a hazmat endorsement
Chinatown Thanks this.
