These were my #s after joining Con-way Truckload as a Student Graduate:

#s with Trainer: 4/15/11-5/11/11; 11,844 dispatched miles over the 27 days; I drove approx 85% of those miles with the trainer in the jump seat and the trainer drove the other 15% with me in the jump seat. I was paid 26cpm for all 11844 ($3,079.44) of those dispatched miles and all the training miles do count towards your future pay increases.

    SOLO #s:
May (from May 12th on)......7127 miles, 16 days worked, 445 mpd avg
June ..............................10767 miles, 26 days worked, 414 mpd avg
July ...............................10293 miles, 29 days worked, 355 mpd avg
August............................11567 miles, 26 days worked, 445 mpd avg
September.......................11458 miles, 30 days worked, 382 mpd avg
October...........................11009 miles, 24 days worked, 459 mpd avg
November........................12553 miles, 29 days worked, 433 mpd avg
December..........................9268 miles, 22 days worked, 421 mpd avg
January.............................9025 miles, 27 days worked, 334 mpd avg
February...........................7611 miles, 17 days worked, 448 mpd avg

SOLO Totals.................100,678 miles, 246 days worked, 409 mpd avg
SOLO + Training #s........112,522 miles, 273 days worked, 412 mpd avg

Of note: Training pay is 26cpm, goes to 30cpm once Solo, goes to 32cpm when you reach your first 60,000 miles total, goes to 34cpm when you reach 90,000 miles total, goes to 36cpm when you reach 120,000 miles total.

Based on the 409 mpd avg, if I had taken 52 days off in a 365 day cycle, I would have driven 128,017 my first cycle year.

I chose to leave Con-way Truckload recently, But I would suggest that these #s and first year income potential for a Student Graduate measure favorably to other starter companies in the industry.

I drove in 44 of the lower 48 states, (missed on RI, VT, ND, and DE), and I drove in 3 Canadian Provinces (Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick).

450miles per day seems like a lot of sitting

I figure I'd go ahead and assist with the money breakdown as well.

    Training miles:...................11844 miles @ 26cpm...........$3079.44
    Initial Solo pay level...........48156 miles @ 30cpm.........$14,446.80
    Second Solo pay level........30000 miles @ 32cpm...........$9,600.00
    Third Solo pay level...........22522 miles @ 34cpm...........$7,657.48

Total mileage pay I earned in 273 days on duty.............$34,783.72

Additional pay I did not add to these totals:

5cpm for all miles driven in the Northeast (very liberal definition of NE)
3cpm for all miles pulling Hazmat placarded loads
1cpm quarterly safety bonus for all miles driven in a safe quarter
$25.00 for each loaded border crossing
$50.00 for going in and out of NYC
Layover pay @ $60.00 per day
Detention pay @ $12.00 per hour
$35.00 stop pay for all multiple stop loads excluding the 1st and last stop
You may be surprised at how much these additional items can add up to

Based on the base cpm pay alone had I completed 1 year with the cpm going to 36cpm at 120,000 miles and maintaining the 409mpd avg and figuring 313 work days to 52 days off. The base cpm pay would calculate to a first year cycle total of $40,513.56. A second year cycle at 313 days worked at the same pace and a 36cpm rate would have equated to a second year base cpm wage of $46,086.12.

This an informative post...What surprised me MOST is how noticeable your miles decreased as your pay increased. :biggrin_2554:

    Jaguar115,
Think you missed the breakout of pay.

    Training Pay 26 cpm
    Xlsdraw drove 11,844 with trainer

Solo up to 60,000 total miles including training miles 30 cpm
After training drove 48,156 to hit the next level

    60,000 to 90,000 32 cpm

    90,000 to 120,000 34 cpm

Xlsdraw total miles driven was 112,522. In another 7,488 miles he would have his next raise.

    Just how I see it.

Thanks...I wasn't being derogatory, it was something that caught my eye...I can see it as a "benny", bring home the same pay, and not being asked to work as hard.

My problem with not working hard...When I'm not working, I spend money on things I don't really need. :)
