Hello I am 21 and currently in school and found this company called Trans Am. I have a accident on my record and I was wondering do companies ask for police reports or not? Always wondered this question. I don't no much about Trans Am so any info on the students CPM for OTR and what not would be great, I did a search in the forums and found a thread that 500 million pages long and most of it seemed like a lot of bs but I don't enjoy reading and lose focus quickly while reading a lot. :biggrin_25513:

    Thanks Guys!!

No they won't ask for a police report and it won't do much good to offer one even if it might put you in a better light. You need to read now, whether you like to or not. Jumping into this trade can be a good thing for you or it can be a waste of your time and money. You need to have the correct expectations going in or you may find yourself wondering why didn't you read what others were trying to say.

There is a lot of information to be gleaned from this site and a lot of BS information that needs to be taken with a grain of salt. After you've read enough, you will begin to see common thoughts and reports. Don't hesitate to ask others who work at a particular carrier, your questions about that particular carrier.

Don't be too concerned about the accident. The trucking companies will look at your MVR and may or may not question you about it.
At 21 yrs. old, start looking at companies that hire at 21; not all do.

From what's been posted on here, TransAm is OK and a good place to get started in this career. Look at others and decide from a variety of companies that hire 21 yr. old drivers.

    Here's a few, but there's more:

    Halvor Lines
    Navajo Express
    Melton Truck Lines
    Southern Refrigerated Transport
    H.O. Wolding
    Pride Transport
    Super Service

Put your location on your profile so we know the hiring area you live in.

Submit several applications then choose from the job offers.
Don't wait until after graduation to submit applications; start now.

DO NOT do a lease purchase with Trans Am (or any other company) that's no doubt going to try to force feed one to you. You'll be broke with wrecked credit and out of the industry by the New Years end, trust me. Good luck to you and stay safe! 😉

Welcome to this forum! If you're really interested in truck driving, you'll soon discover there is a LOT to know but this forum certainly has a huge amount of experienced drivers willing to lend a hand... and a least a few ready to post lots of BS whenever possible. IMO, just be honest about YOUR situation when talking with recruiters and/or posting on a forum like this. If you lie to a recruiter, or only provide them with 1/2 truths, it could very well come back to bite you in the arse down the road.

Happy New Year and I hope you enjoy the journey wherever it might take you.

Just be honest they may or may not ask you about it. Trans Am is another big carrier so good for experience and that's about it

Yeah i'm not interested in a lease program not even a little I read alot about how ###### it really turns out for the drivers. I think I'll make decent money for my self driving OTR for 4 to 5 years. i'm 21 no bills and nothing to pay off I just love driving and can't wait to start. Hoping I can get a drove haulin a NASCAR or something but that will be a long ways out.
