I've been weighing my options for CDL school, and money is the hangup for me. I can't really afford anything at the moment, so I'm turning to company paid training.

So if I understand correctly, the way this works, you go to class for four days and get your permit(I'd probably show up with mine). Then you're out with a trainer for 3-4 weeks and then out with one for 4-6 months teaming? If that's the case, that is probably a deal breaker for me. I'm not anti-social, but I can't see myself cooped up in a truck with a stranger for as many as 6 months.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

sure it all depends on how fast you learn and your instructor/trainer i did 2 1/2wks with my instructor and then 2 1/2 mnths with him for tnt also depends on how many miles you get during tnt freight was slow then and it took a little longer than i should i understand not wanting to team w/a stranger(i dont like teaming) but if you want your own truck you got to thru tnt

You know it's a POS company if they MAKE you team in order to get a truck. Screw them, go somewhere else.

There's many starter companies that won't make you team and pay for your training. Tell us where you live and we will help you find one that hires in your area.

Teaming sucks, but its worth it to get youre own truck. How long depends a lot on YOU and how well you do. Have to do a MINIMUM of 30,000 miles if you go through PSD. However.... You wont upgrade until youre trainer and fm know you can handle your own truck.

The purpose for tnt is to gain EXPERIENCE so you know how to run a truck. It takes time to learn the ins n outs of running a truck. Ive been doing it for less than a year, and dont know everything, but I made it through tnt.

Mind your own business. Prime doesnt make you pay. So go somewhere else. If you dont know about something, keep your mouth shut. bye bye now

So 30,000 miles is required as well as trainer sign off on my readiness to get my own truck. 30,000 would take 15 weeks roughly? That would be rough, but if I got lucky with the trainer choice it could be ok. That's a big if though.

Still, I'm reading about others that offer paid training and they aren't looking good. Most require you to pay and they'll reimburse. That's not an option for me unfortunately.
