I like older audio books, like Louie La'more country westerns. they're a great change of pace from Sirius.

If we all stay out for 2-3 months at a time we could all use that:biggrin_2559:

:biggrin_2556: This what i did with my atlas , i had one those slick shinny ones too, what i did i found on each page a blank section like a pond , wide river, i stop at the rest area, and write with dry erase marker, what it cost for toll road there and truckstop exit's for that state as i went thru each state ,and weigh station exit and good weigh station or bad one, i did that for, then for my next load as pretip planning i could flip opean to that state and see how much money i need too draw for them states, :biggrin_255: i also miss my atlas, my first one, i still have my org slick shiny one made by gousha atlas , that was nice, it showed all the truckstops with a red icon and all the weigh stations with gold icon, i wish they bring that back, that was nice, seen lots of atlas none in there with that , unless im looking in wroung one , coulb be.

Hey, who does this Everett guy think he is? Sounds like he is trying to un-hijack a perfectly good hijacked thread!:biggrin_25525::biggrin_2559:

FWIW, I too tried the liquid in a side box, and I was raised in Colorado. You'd think I would have known better. . .:biggrin_25513:

Hmmm, you have pretty much made it clear to all of US! So who is it that isn't supposed to know?:biggrin_25525:

:biggrin_2556: Most new guys as well as old ones like me learn the hard way, and so go too your home depot lumber yard, and buy them 4 pack racth binder straps, inch wide is all you need, $15 bucks for a 4 strap's and could save your life, let me explain this, and i'm not very good at explaing myself ether :biggrin_25523: as i lernt this the hard way on a old trl with those little evergreens in the corner, i call them everygreen trls, but anyway i get too the rec back up too dock , whipped opean them doors , was gonna back in nope soon as i popped that lacth , kaboom load of freight almost on my head, that lernt me fast,so heres my attack or plan from then on i made sure those doors had chain on em ,both side, before i touch that handel , i make sure there hook together too,, if there not there or damage that trl get wrote up on the dot report at the shop, they are there, there for a reason as i found out the hard way, course i was just starting out too, so with trls with no chains on em i take my racth strap and thread under both pipes on door handels then back over top, then racthit it down too nice loose loop , of about 6 inchs or so , depending on load , this is just my cheap ins for that other time, far as dock goes, most inst say back up too 10 feet of dock and opean your doors, becuse of that near scare, i now use 20 as my safe zone, ten is too close too dock plate , if you wanna move fast and ten is what is between the load that fallen and dock, i feel safer at 20,and can get out the way fast, if i pop the door handel and the load has fallen , my straps will have stopped the doors from flying opean, then with the doors that way , i pull out dock get sideways , to dock's and now become a parking lot unload as the door is controlled opean by the forklift as he push the tesions off the straps, i relase the straps , while forklift on the door , get out way, and he backs up controlling the door, lets fall on ground and the fun begins as a restack job on anthor pallettes.and im sorry i unhyjacked your thread, sorry:biggrin_25521:

y not just open one door at a time? most docks you have to open the doors then back up. only time I had shift happen to me it was because a box collapsed. I just open doors ready to jump. dock worker got a good laugh because of it to. You know those giant airbags the put between the pallets well one of those came falling out the back at night when i went to open the doors I jumped to the side as I saw something falling in my direction. look back to see big air filled plastic thing float down to the ground. I walk over and kicked it at the dock guy who was bent over laughing. it bounced off him and he could stop laughing at me for running and jumping away from the over sized balloon. But if it had been freight falling it would been no laughing matter.

I became a serial killer one time! I had a pallet of cereal slide off the truck as I was backing into the dock. I didn't see it come off, and backed over part of it. This was one of those docks that make you slide your axles all the way back before they will start unloading, so I managed to kill several cases of cereal. . .:biggrin_25510:

Best truckstop/parking directory known to man

    www.parkmyrig.com

Its a little more pricey than the others but it has everything from truckstops to mcd's to whatever you want if you can park a truck there it has it. I met the owner/publisher of this gem in Colorado a few months ago and this book he has made is the BOMB. If you go to his website their all kinds of little "goodies" and tidbits of info that will also save you some coin. Here's a prime example next time you go to Burger King read the back of your reciept the "fine" print you might be surprised at what you find.
