It pays well, plus I get more money the more dangerous a stunt is. I'm not jumping off buildings on a daily basis though. I do a lot of getting shot, falling down and simple stunt driving etc but have done my fair share of cool stuff.
My wife was in the Screen Actors Guild when we met. I was a union Ironworker after driving and wasn't happy. I told her my background and thought I would be great for stunts. It was something I always wanted to do but had no idea how to get into it. My wife knew how the got work, so I left the ironworkers and started doing background and extra work. I got in the union very quickly and started marketing myself to stunt coordinators. Slowly jobs started coming in and I made a good name for myself and I got more and more busy.
