Quietmike is correct,it depends on the carrier.Where I work we pay for the damage as long as its not too bad.Why don't you offer to pay for the gladhands and hoses.Cost around $75.00 and you don't need the shop to hook up the hoses.Look on the brightside, you did'nt forget to dolly down and the trailer dropped.

I wager that the majority of us at one time or another have ripped the air lines before. Theres a reason they sell them at every truckstop...it's a common goof. Go bobtail down the road and buy some more. If you dont have one, get an adjustable wrench and put them on. I dont think your company will fire you for ripping air lines. Next time, ask for advice before reporting a goof.

I always crank gear, then pull air lines, then pull pin, harder to mess up if you miss a step that way.

the glad hands i dont see anyone firing you for thats minor and shouldnt go on a dac report
Depending on how bad the other was and your company that may or may not be on your dac

But if your in for 4 months now you need to slow down and not get so much in a hurry and do it right and think before doing.
I had this problem when I first started it was rush rush rush ....which leads to problems

I remove glad hands, pigtail, pull pin,go to other side, put bill in billbox then dolly down.Save time that way rather then walk bck and forth since bill box and landing gear handle is on the other side.

Why would you even report this. Drop your trailer and bobtail to the nearest place you can buy a set of lines and a couple crescent wrenches. Less then a $100. We've all done it. I used to drop and hook 4-5 times per day a long time ago. Slipped up one night and took out the hoses. The blue was still good so I swapped it with the red and drove very "gingerly" to the truckstop 25 miles away.

Be the solution, not the problem in this industry and you'll be in it for a long time to come.

Haven't ripped the lines off(yet :) ) but several years ago I almost dropped a trailer on its nose, forgot to dolly down. Now i have a routine I do every morning when I hook up my trailer and every afternoon when I drop my trailer. Always do the same steps in the same order. What can I say, I'm anal, lol
