Dropped a trailer twice and caught it on the frame both times. I swore after the first time I would nvr do it again. Now I'm 100% positive after the 2nd time I wont. I've had a few boo boos. Bumped mirrors a few times with other trucks but no scratches or anything, Slightly bent a cab extender. All this was in my first year. Been boo boo free since (nearly 7 years in). Looking back I realize it was all due to being in a hurry.

I guess where having an Oops while dropping a trailer, truckers can be divided into two classes, those that have and those that will.

A good pair would've popped right off there. If they jump on you jump right back and tell them to stop buying that made in China crap. :biggrin_2559:

That's one thing about air lines suspended on one of them pole holders. You can hear that thing moving.

For the last deal, No you should not be fired. We all have done that some time or another. Some my denies it but I bet they did. I was waiting to get loaded and a JB Hunt local driver came in and did a drop and Hook. When he dropped his trailer he forgot to disconnect his pigtails. BOOOM!!!!!!!! They slammed his cab it sounded as a ShotGun Blast. I seen another guy I embraced him backing in to my door he had to show off. He had drop his trailer and was hooking to another trailer. When I was walking into the Dock he took off and lost his LOADED trailer. Boom to the ground. He went in begging them to come out with a Forklift to raise it up.

About 6 years ago I was in a rush dropping and hooking to a load and {gasps}forgot the lines. Had to go back to terminal and get them replaced.Long story short after myself and said company parted ways I found out that the company had listed the incident on my DAK as "destruction of company property" Dont know how long things stay listed on your DAK BUT It can come back in later years to bite your tail.

Was asked about it at my current company during orientation and explained what had happened. But since I had worked a different company since with no issues they just had me write out a statement for my employment records.

    Me too, and me too.

I took it to a Swift shop, they laughed, then they replaced them.
Nothing was ever said to me about it by my DM, and no incident shows up anywhere as far as I know.

iv broken glad hand air hoes while taking them off before. on my own truck.

old plastic curly type air hoses and below 0 weather. the supply line broke i just went ahead and replaced both.

i forgot to dolly a trailer down once, luckily I realized it as soon as the trailer came off the 5th wheel. It was still on the frame. so aired the bags back up lowered the landing gear to the ground. then deflated the air bags put a block of wood between the frame and the trailer then repeat. till i could get back under the trailer and lower the gear all the way.

the one that sucked the most was a old trailer with a pin type landing gear instead of a jack type landing gear and it was set too high for my truck. i jumped the 5th wheel. plus it was middle of winter snowing 30-40 mph winds and below 0. probably took a hour to get myself outta that mess. no damage to anything but sure sucked.
